About

People at the heart of care

The team here at Peregrine House have achieved success and popularity on the simple premise that the needs of our residents are paramount, with all our infrastructure and management centred on ensuring they are not only comfortable, but happy in our care.

Home comforts

We constantly seek to improve our facilities and the environment to make it better for residents and staff alike. Peregrine House was originally built in 1890 as a large Victorian home. Some years after taking on the home in 1995, we undertook significant new development and refurbishment work which was formally opened by the Marquis of Normanby in May 2011. It provided eight new resident bedrooms with en-suite wet room/shower rooms while upgrading seven existing bedrooms to incorporate the same improved facilities.

Importantly for the care of our dementia patients in particular, the new build created an internal secure courtyard and enclosed garden. Its design also provided a new entrance and reception, staff/training room, a laundry, a large specially-equipped assisted bathroom and two dry storage rooms.

Since then a further project has provided further bedrooms, along with the provision of larger, enhanced lounge and dining room space on the ground floor.

Whitby Residential Care Home - Peregrine House

Simply the best

We aim to deliver the best care service available  When new ideas come along we only ever asked one question, ”If we lived here would we want this for ourselves?” If the answer is yes, then it is implemented.

If we fall short, our residents or their family can feel confident to bring matters to our attention for a quick resolution.

To put it simply; we care!

Choosing your care home

When considering care homes we recommend asking some questions to ensure that you are comparing like with like.

At Peregrine House the fee quoted to you at the outset includes everything that is required for the care of your loved one, who we will look after as though they were our own.

Our fee will not go up because their perceived care needs increase soon after admission. It includes all toiletries, fresh fruit and any nutritional favourites notified to us.

It also includes staff accompanying your loved one on visits to GPs, dentists and other health professionals in Whitby as well as the hospitals in Whitby, Scarborough and Middlesbrough.

These key benefits are commonly not included in “headline” care fees quoted by other care homes, which can come as a nasty shock after your loved one has been admitted. We urge you to BEWARE!

Dementia

Residents generally come to us with some degree of physical infirmity, and often with dementia. We provide a home when they are no longer able to care for themselves, offering facilities, skills and time beyond that which relatives and friends can realistically provide.
